Rodney Alan Smith, 45, of Sterling, died Dec. 26, 2009, at Leewood Health Center in Annandale.

A life-long resident of Loudoun County, he was born Nov. 12, 1964, in Falls Church to Ernest W. Smith Jr. and Betty Poland Smith of Sterling.

He was a 1983 graduate of Broad Run High School. He was a cabinetmaker and newspaper distributor for the Washington Post.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Shannon; brothers Gordon Smith of Purcellville and Michael Smith of Leesburg.

Services were held Dec. 30 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg with the Rev. Randy Duncan officiating. Interment was at Leesburg Union Cemetery.
